Conception Captain Guilty Of Seaman’s Manslaughter

On Labor Day September 2, 2019, 34 people on board the diving vessel Conception perished in a fire off the Santa Barbara Coast. Yesterday, a federal jury in Los Angeles found 69-year-old Jerry Boylan was found guilty of seaman’s manslaughter. It is considered one of the deadliest U.S. maritime disasters of our time. Only the captain and four crew members survived. Boylan is now facing 10 years in prison when he’s sentenced in February.
