Pacific Gas & Electric has filed an application to it’s Diablo Canyon power plant running for another 20 years. The plant was scheduled to begin closing next year. When California failed to produce enough clean energy options, Governor Newsom signed Senate Bill 846 allowing the plant to remain open into 2030 with new potential shutdown dates in 2029 and 2030. The renewal application filed yesterday by PG&E could take years to be approved.
