A brush fire brought traffic to a near stand-still Friday afternoon. Flames were first reported just after 3 o’clock. When fire crews arrived the fire had the potential to scorch 50 or more acres. About an hour later crews were getting an upper hand on the Summit Fire. By 5 p.m. Friday, the forward progress of the fire had been stopped. By then, northbound traffic on the 101 had backed up as far as the middle of San Luis Obispo. No structures were damaged. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
