A strike by Cal Poly faculty is still looming on the horizon. California State University system officials walked away from yesterday’s contract negotiations after only 21 minutes. They also canceled all future bargaining sessions with the California Faculty Association. last May the union began asking for a 12 percent salary increase, more manageable workloads, an increase in paid leave, and gender-neutral bathrooms. According to the Tribune, after the CSU closed the talks, they issued a statement saying faculty will receive a 5% general salary increase at the end of the month.
