A long-awaited project to help reduce homelessness in San Luis Obispo got a shot in the arm. Last week, Governor Gavin Newsom announced the latest round of Homekey grants. The City of SLO and People’s Self-Help Housing will be receiving a19.5 million dollars grant. The money will fund a project that will convert a Motel 6 into 76 permanent housing units. According to KSBY, the project should be completed by early next year.
