A local group in Morro Bay is raising money to buy a piece of equipment that could be helpful in beach rescues. A utility vehicle, outfitted with emergency tools, first aid and oxygen, and enhanced communication would be able to get to potential rescues quicker than a standard emergency vehicle due to its size and maneuverability. The UTV wasn’t in the Morro Bay City budget. So, Friends of the Morro Bay Harbor Department launched a fundraiser last October. They hope to have the UTV ready for action by March.
