A Santa Maria man has been found guilty of second-degree murder for killing a 14-year-old while driving drunk in San Luis Obispo County. The crash happened in March of 2021. 27-year-old Earnesto Herrera was speeding the wrong way on Highway 101 in Nipomo. Herrera fled the crash scene but CHP officers eventually caught up with him. Two and a half hours after the crash, his blood alcohol content was still more than twice the legal limit. Sentencing is scheduled for March 5th.
