The murder trial of a man accused of beating another man to death resumes this morning. 45-year-old Marco Cota is accused of murdering 64-year-old Rick Fowler in November 2021. Fowler’s body was found in a creek bed near the Madonna Road / Highway 101 interchange. Cota’s defense attorney claims he acted in self defense. The D.A.’s office claims Cota murdered Fowler while he was in a rage. According to the Tribune, both men were unhoused at the time of Fowler’s death.
