The Cayucos Pier reopened Friday morning to the delight of locals and tourists. According to KSBY, the 1,000-foot-long pier was temporarily closed earlier last week after Cal Fire officials noticed damage from recent storm activity. An engineer determined the pier to be safe to use, as long as a damaged guardrail is monitored. The pier could close again, if there is another high surf event before repairs to the guardrail are made.
