Santa Maria City officials are taking steps to comply with California’s water regulations. The landscaping around City Hall is being removed, and replaced with smaller patches of drought-resistant grass. According to KSBY, three trees have also been removed. Officials say they were either diseased or structurally unsound. Officials are hopeful the new landscaping will cut water usage by 60 percent.
