The City of San Luis Obispo has received some accolades for its water conservation program. San Luis Obispo has been given a platinum status award by Chicago-based non-profit, The Alliance for Water Efficiency. San Luis Obispo has reduced its annual water use from 5,500 acre-feet before 2011 to 4,700 acre-feet last year. Only four other water purveyors received the award including Santa Barbara.
