A Righetti High School student suffered major injuries yesterday morning while she was walking to school. CHP investigators say the 16-year-old was struck by a car while she was in a crosswalk at Hummel Dr. and Union Valley Parkway in Orcutt. The driver told officers he didn’t see the girl due to glare from the sun. Two independent witnesses confirmed his claim. The teen was taken to Marian Medical Center, then airlifted to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera for treatment.
