A bipartisan bill that would help with law enforcement shortages has been introduced in Washington D.C. The Filling Public Safety Vacancies Act will provide a federal grant program to fund recruitment and hiring. According to Congressman Salud Carbajal’s office, the bill would double the amount of federal grant funding available for local departments this fiscal year. Police officer recruitment and hiring is at the lowest level since 1994.
