A Santa Maria man has been sentenced to 118 years to life in prison. Last month, 31-year-old Dustin Morales was found guilty of attempted murder of a peace officer, assault with a semiautomatic firearm on a peace officer, and carjacking. Charges stemming from a series of events in November 2020 where he fired a gun at a Santa Maria Police officer. He fled to the L.A. area where he fired two or three shots at CHP officers during a traffic stop. A conviction in L.A. County added another 75 years of prison time.
