A trip to Pismo Beach proved to be very costly for Charlotte Russ and her kids. The California mom took her kids to Pismo Beach for a day trip at the end of 2023. The kids strolled along the oceanfront collecting seashells – but when they started to leave, Charlotte says that’s when Fish and Wildlife authorities stopped them because harvesting juvenile clams is illegal – and her kids had picked up 72. Charlotte was shell shocked to learn she’d have to pay an 88 thousand dollar fine. The fine was reduced and she only shelled out 500 clams.
