A proposal by the California Department of Insurance could make it easier for homeowners to find insurance coverage. According to the Tribune, 28 counties, including San Luis Obispo are included in the proposal. Under the plan, companies will commit to writing policies for a certain number of homes in regions of the state considered at greater risk. In return, they will be allowed to use computer models to predict future losses when asking to raise their rates. If the plan passes a regulatory review, it won’t be implemented until next year.
