The Grover Beach Police Department used drones and increased patrols to spot illegal fireworks on the 4th. According to an X post, officers wrote nine 1,000 dollar citations for illicit fireworks on Thursday. According to the Tribune, what appeared to be police drones could be seen throughout the Five Cities area monitoring for illegal fireworks use as numerous fireworks exploded overhead. Santa Maria used a similar tactic to write more than 60 fireworks tickets.
