When the Lake fire broke out last week, firefighters set up a base camp at the Elks Rodeo Grounds. It’s where they can get food, a shower, something to eat, and some much-needed sleep. Now that the fire has grown to more than 34,000 acres, a second base camp has been set up at the Santa Maria Speedway.
