Phase one of a transformation project for Santa Maria’s City Hall is almost complete. Two large magnolia trees needed to be removed due to age and disease. A permanent plaza is being constructed for future public events. The project is a response to Governor Gavin Newsom’s order calling on city governments to replace “non-recreational turf.” The first phase of the project should be completed in the next couple of months.
