Firefighters made quick work of a vegetation fire east of Paos Robles yesterday. Crews responded to the 5-acre fire on the 6000 block of Stoney Place. The flame had put some structures at the scene at risk. The forward progress of the fire was stopped at around 2 p.m. One inhabitant needed to be evacuated. Officials say Orion, a 25-year-old tortoise was unharmed in the ordeal.
