The Santa Maria Police Department says two people were arrested during a DUI checkpoint over the weekend. The checkpoint was set up Saturday on the 900 block of South Broadway. Between six p.m. and two a.m., more than 800 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Officials say two drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and 18 were cited for driving without a license. More checkpoint operations are planned for the coming months.
