The Annual Day of Hope fundraiser, that helps local cancer patients will happen later this month. Over the past 10 years, the Day of Hope has raised close to 2.3 million dollars for patients at Mission Hope Cancer Center in Santa Maria and Arroyo Grande. On August 21st, starting at 7 a.m., hundreds of volunteers will be selling special edition 1-dollar Santa Maria Times newspapers. Donations from the paper drive help Mission Hope stay on the cutting edge of cancer treatment.
