A social media post and tips from the public have led to the arrest of a suspected downspout thief. On July 15th, San Luis Obispo Police shared surveillance video of 50-year-old David Ruble on Facebook. Several weeks later, tips from members of the public led Arroyo Grande Police to make contact with Ruble. He was found with six of the 40 copper downspouts that were stolen from the Irish Hills Plaza shopping center last month. Investigators believe he sold more than a thousand pounds of downspouts and copper wire to a scrapyard in Santa Barbara County. The investigation is ongoing.
