A car fire is blamed for starting a grass fire in Templeton yesterday afternoon. According to the CHP, the fire started in a vacant lot near El Camino Real just after 12:30. Flames from the car fire ignited nearby dry grass. The grass fire had the potential to threaten nearby homes. Templeton firefighters had the forward progress of the flames stopped in about an hour. Aside from five acres scorched and a vehicle totaled, no other damage of injuries were reported.
