The San Luis Obispo County Airport has received a large federal grant to help find a way to clean up so-called forever chemicals. According to the Tribune, the 3.5 million dollar FAA grant will help test three new remediation technologies for soil and water contamination. For decades, the FAA required airports to use aqueous film-forming foam sprayed from firetrucks. The PAFS from the foam leached into groundwater, contaminating 42 residential wells.
