The Santa Maria Police Department say five people started their weekend off on the wrong foot Friday night. They were arrested during a DUI Checkpoint. The Checkpoint was in operation Between 6 p.m. Friday until 1 a.m. Saturday. 777 vehicles passed through. Most without incident. One driver was arrested for other criminal charges in addition to DUI, and nine drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended or revoked license.
