Santa Maria Airport Reaches Agreement Over Endangered Species Case

The Santa Maria Public Airport has reached an agreement over an endangered species. The endangered California Tiger Salamander makes it’s home on a plot of land owned by the Santa Maria Airport. Airport officials have been leasing the land to agricultural businesses, bringing the airport more than a million dollars annually. The airport will now be paying state and federal agencies 5 million dollars and restoring the Salamander’s habitat.
