The Shandon man accused of stabbing his stepmother to death and injuring his father will stand trial. 33-year-old Justin Buchanan allegedly killed his stepmother and attacked his father on July 16, 2023 in their Shandon home. He was found incompetent to stand trial shortly after his arrest. Yesterday a judge ruled Buchanan will face charges of murder, attempted murder, and assault. According to the Tribune, his father testified the he thought his son was possessed during the attacks.
