Thousands of athletes descended on Santa Margarita Ranch over the weekend for the third annual Spartan Race. Organizers expected about 6,000 competitors of every skill level to dash through rows of grapevines, climb obstacles, carry boulders and sprint through open valleys of the Los Padres National forest.
