Santa Barbara County farmworkers went to the County Board of Supervisors yesterday to plead their case for higher wages. The average farmworker makes about 16 dollars an hour. Since 2021 advocates have been pushing for a 10 dollar an hour increase. Some local growers say the raise could force them out of business, cost farmworkers their jobs and hurt the local economy.
