The City of Santa Maria is facing serious financial hurdles. At yesterday’s State of the City address, Mayor Alice Patino told a crowd of about 150 people that the city was facing a 20 million dollar deficit. The city staff is exploring potential cutbacks and revenue enhancement options, including new or increased taxes and parking fees. The staff will take their findings to the City Council for consideration in February.
