The Johnson Ranch Open Space will be temporarily closed tomorrow. A five-acre cultural burn will be performed by Chumash Indigenous fire practitioners. The goal of the burn is to revitalize plants, reduce wildfire risk, enhance habitat, and broadly maintain native ecosystems. Nearby residents may be able to smell smoke from the fire. Officials say the cultural burn may be postponed depending on the weather.
