Health Department Urging Residents To Avoid Ocean

The San Luis Obispo Public Health Department is advising people to stay out of the ocean following significant rainstorms. According to a press release, the public is advised to avoid ocean contact at least three days after a storm due to runoff. Rainstorm runoff can carry high levels of disease-causing organisms such as bacteria, viruses, and protozoa from the watershed and urban areas to the ocean.
