Santa Maria Police say they are investigating a fatal traffic accident. It happened just after 5:30 p.m. yesterday. When officers arrived at the scene at the intersection of Orchard Street and Broadway they found a pedestrian down in the southbound lanes of Broadway. He was taken to an area hospital where he would succumb to his injuries. The driver remained at the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Santa Maria P.D.
