High surf from the Bay Area down to Southern California this week has turned deadly. A man died after being trapped under debris. The high surf also tore off a portion of the Santa Cruz pier. Another pier here in San Luis Obispo County was also damaged. On Monday a support piling at the Cayucos pier was torn off by the surf. The pier was already under repair from damage suffered in last February’s storms. It is currently closed to the public.
