It may be December, but some Central Coast Fire Agencies are already looking to slow the use of illegal fireworks in July. Lompoc Fire Chief Brian Fallon told the City Council, his department plans to hire a firm to provide aerial monitoring to help crack down on those launching illegal fireworks in the city. Fallon’s plan follows a busy 4th of July last year that saw two brush fires, one involving several different fire agencies. Santa Maria has conducted a similar operation with a 70 percent recovery rate on fine.
