A battery storage facility in Monterey County caught fire yesterday afternoon. The Moss Landing Energy Storage Facility, described as the largest of its kind in the world, caught fire at around 3 o’clock. More than 1200 people were ordered to evacuate from the surrounding area. According to fire officials the blaze will be allowed to burn itself out. The facility is owned by Texas based Vistra, which is trying to get approval for a similar energy storage facility in Morro Bay. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
