A new battery storage facility in Nipomo is almost complete. Some residents who use Joshua Street say they were unaware the project was being built. Considering the recent Vistra battery storage fire in the Bay area, some residents are concerned. When the project is complete, the 100-megawatt Caballero Energy Storage Project will provide enough energy to power more than 100,000 homes for up to four hours during times of peak electricity demand every day. Caballero officials say their safety plans and protocols have been verified by first responders.
