Seven million dollars in grant funding will be used to help make the pines in Cambria more fire resistant. Officials say there are only three naturally occurring pine stands in California, and one of them is in Cambria. Over the past 150 years, the Cambria pine forest has become overgrown. The project will mimic natural processes to promote a healthy, less fire-prone forest.
