A project at Cal Poly is exploring the contributions of Afro-descendants in early Spanish and Mexican California. According to KSBY, Cal Poly researchers are creating a digital history of the role of Afro-descendants between 1768 and 1850. The project is funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The project team will host a public information session on Feb. 20th at Cal Poly. The community is invited.
