A low-income housing project in Santa Maria is a step closer to breaking ground. Last night, the Santa Maria city Council unanimously approved the final plans for the Skylight Homes project. People’s Self Help officials have been working for several years to to build the 49 low-income homes on 9 acres that used to be the Hi-Way Drive-In. The first phase of the project is expected to begin early next year.
