San Luis Obispo residents could soon see a jump in garbage rates. Officials say the nearly 8 percent rate increase would help cover the cost of “increased collection and disposal costs for solid waste, recyclable and organics materials,” and several new services. Residential customers cold see their bill jump between 1 and 6 dollars. There will be a public hearing on the rate hike on March 18th. If the rate increase is approved, it would go into effect on March 19th.
