A new late-night ride-share loading zone program goes into effect tonight in Downtown San Luis Obispo. The goal is to keep people safe while they’re getting in and out of their Uber, Lyft or taxi. City officials believe it should prevent traffic from backing up while rideshares are stopping. The zones will be enforced during the peak time for downtown bars from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. on the 700 block of Higuera and the 1000 block of Chorro.
