A stranded hiker near Avila Beach needed to be rescued over the weekend. Cal Fire SLO officials say a call came in early Saturday evening regarding a stranded hiker at Pirates Cove. When rescuers arrived they found the hiker about 100 feet down the side of a cliff. Crews used a rope system to lower themselves down to the hiker. They assessed the hiker’s condition, helped them back to the main trail and back to safety.
