A Santa Maria man died over the weekend after being found unresponsive in his cell at the Santa Barbara County Jail. Sheriff’s officials say officers found the inmate alone at around 2:20 Saturday afternoon. They believe he tried to commit suicide. The 35-year-old was taken to an area hospital, where he would die about an hour later. An investigation is ongoing.
