Santa Maria firefighters made quick work of an apartment fire early yesterday morning. The flames first broke out at around 5 A.M. at an apartment complex on North Depot Street. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire inside one of the affordable housing units on the second floor. Fire officials say there was significant water damage from the building’s fire sprinkler system. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
