The San Luis Obispo City Council has approved evening hiking at Cerro San Luis Natural reserve, also known as Madonna Mountain. A 3-2 vote in favor of extending hiking hours until 8:30 p.m. was met with concerns citing environmental impacts to animals and wildlife and their nocturnal habitats. A recent environmental report showed the impact on wildlife and the risk of a wildfire is less than significant. Evening hours will begin on December 17th.
