Governor Gavin Newsom called on local water agencies to be more aggressive when it comes to water conservation. If steps aren’t taken to encourage residents to conserve more, the state could be forced to enact mandatory restrictions. Pismo Beach has already announced tighter water restrictions by prohibiting outdoor watering between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and giving the City Council power to pass any water rationing measure it deemed necessary for public safety. The governor will meet again with the same water agencies in a few months to assess the progress.
