One of the six people who perished in this weekend’s tragic mid-air crash in Texas had a Cal Poly connection. Craig Hutain graduated with an aeronautical engineering degree in 1982. According to Commemorative Air Force officials, he was piloting the P-63 Kingcobra that collided with a B-17 Flying Fortress in Dallas. Hutain had more than 34,500 hours of flight time in over 100 types of aircraft. Five others died in the crash. An FAA investigation is ongoing.
