Cloud seeding has been around for more than 50 years. Now San Luis Obispo County will be taking a chance on it to squeeze as much water out of the clouds as it can to help refill reservoirs that are drying up as a result of the ongoing drought. North American Weather Consultants out of Utah has worked with Santa Barbara County to conduct the work over the Twitchell Reservoir and upper Santa Ynez River watersheds. The cloud seeding project will cost San Luis Obispo County 1 million dollars over the next three years.
